Main Control Panel

This is the main control Panel for USB Flash Backup. From this area you can arrange your program settings, profile settings, manager profiles and edit your backup items list.

1 . Profile ManagerProfile Manager

Profile Manager
The profile setting area is used to setup your unique user profiles. USB Flash backup has been designed with more than one user in mind, you can set up new profiles for each member of your family or each employee in your office. Profiles can be imported and exported making it easy to use on more than one computer. Click here to go to the profile manager window.

Profile Options
Each user profile stores its own unique backup options. After creating a new profile, you can configure your backup options in this area. Further details of this area are explained in full in the Profile Options area of this help document. Click here to go to the Profile Options Window.

3 . Program SettingsProgram Settings

Program Settings
The Program Settings area is used to configure the way that USB Flash Backup works on your machine. In the program settings area you can choose how the program selects the profile to be used when backing up your files. This area is explained in full later in this help document. The about us section tells you about USB Flash Backup and has links to our website.

5 . Status ButtonStatus Button

Status Button
The status button allows you to switch USB Flash Backup on/off with just one mouse click.

6 . Mode ButtonMode Button

Mode Button
The mode button allows you to switch between normal and stealth modes. When using stealth mode, USB Flash Backup runs in the background and will still backup your files, although no sound, popup boxes or system tray icons will be displayed.

7 . Help Box ButtonHelp Box Button

Help Box Button
This button allows you to switch the help box (17) off and on with one single mouse click. The help box is very useful for first time users of USB Flash Backup.

8 . Profile ButtonProfile Button

Profile Button
The profile button displays a small drop down menu of available profiles. Simply click on the required profile from the menu to change your current profile.

9 . Backup Now ButtonBackup Now Button

Backup Now Button
This button allows you to make a backup if the USB Device or drive is already connected to the machine. Click here to go to the backup now window.

This is your quick link to the profile setup wizard. The setup wizard is a great way to configure a new profile. Its a simple step by step guide that will walk you through the main profile settings that you will need to use. To see the Setup Wizard in action click here.

12 . Backup Items ListBackup Items List

Backup Items List
This is one of the most important parts of USB Flash Backup, this list contains the items that you have chosen to backup. Each profile can have its own backup list and adding items is very simple. You can either select items from the directory tree (18) on the left hand side of the main control panel and drag and drop them into this window, you can also drag and drop items from any other file browser into the window. These items are then stored in your profile and will backup automatically according to your profile options and program settings. Its so simple.

13 . Remove buttonRemove button

Remove button
When an item is clicked in the Backup Items List (12) it will be highlighed. You can then click on the remove button and this item will be removed from your backup items. You can also shortcut to this function by right mouse clicking on the file to be removed from the backup items list (12)

14 . Edit buttonEdit button

Edit button
When an item is clicked on in the Backup Items List (12) it will be highlighed, if you click the edit button you can change the files/folders location or even choose a new backup destination. It is possible to create a new folder for each item that you backup, so you could have one folder for accounts and another folder for photographs for example. Each folder will automatically be created on your USB drive according to your program settings. You can also use the right mouse click on an item in the Backup List (12) to shortcut to this window. 15 . Add ButtonAdd Button

Add Button
The add button is another simple way to add files and folders to your Backup Items List (12). You can also open this window by right mouse clicking on the Backup Items List (12). To go to the Add/Edit Backup item window click here.

16 . Refresh Tree ButtonRefresh Tree Button

Refresh Tree Button
The refresh tree button is used to refresh the directory tree list (18), which is found on the left hand side of the main control panel.

17 . Help BoxHelp Box

Help Box
The help box is very useful for first time users of USB Flash Backup. When your mouse is pointed at an item the help box will explain what the item is used for. The help box can be switched off using the help box button (7) which can be found on the top right hand side of the main control panel.

18 . Directory TreeDirectory Tree

Directory Tree
The directory tree is a list of items that can be navigated on your computer. Items can be selected from this list, dragged and dropped into the Backup Items List (12) to create your backup list very quickly.

19 . Default Destination FolderDefault Destination Folder

Default Destination Folder
This is the name of the folder you would like to create on your usb device to stored your backed up items. You can rename your default destination folder by simply typing the new folder name in this text area.
