Making My First Backup

We have seen in the previous 2 sections, how to set up a profile and its options and how to add items to the backup list. In this section we will continue to work with the example profile that we set up in the GETTING STARTED section of this guide.

OUR EXAMPLE PROFILE

To recap on what we have learned so far, we have set up the following profile and profile options.

Profile Settings
PROFILE NAME: CARL
Backup Options
Create folder to store backup items: \CarlsBackup\
Create folder for each backup: CHECKED
Basic Options
RE WRITE FILES: CHECKED
SMART BACKUP: CHECKED
COMPRESS DATA: UNCHECKED
After Backup
PERFORM SAFE REMOVE: UNCHECKED
SWITCH OFF COMPUTER: UNCHECKED
Additional Options
Check for Free Space: CHECKED
Backup only to this flash drive: CHECKED and flash drive named as "myworkusb"
Profile Selection
Use Profile Depending on flash label name: CHECKED
Wait for 3 seconds: CHECKED

Backup List Items
We have also added one item "Example.txt" to our backup list here.

So how do I perform a backup?
Just plug in your USB Drive and your backup will start automatically. Here's a what the software does:-

1) The software runs in the background and monitors for any USB devices been added to the machine.
2) When a USB device is plugged in, the software checks if it should backup to this device. This is done by checking the device label and the profile/program settings.
3) If the device matches that of a backup profile then the backup will begin.
4) The software will display the Wait for 3 seconds display if checked. Seen here.
5) After 3 seconds you will see the Back Up Operation Display. Seen here.
6) The status of your backup is also displayed here along with any errors that may occur.
7) When your backup items list is completed, the software will perform any After Backup operations that you have selected
